Earlier today, we (over-excitedly) informed you that J.Crew would be lowering their prices come spring. Unfortunately, it looks like we were wrong! WWD quoted J.Crew’s chief executive officer and chairman, Mickey Drexler, as saying that the prices this spring would be “much more friendlier” and apparently that doesn’t mean cheaper.
Fashionista reported that J.Crew will actually just focus on having a better balance of prices across the board and intend on forming better communication with customers and loyal shoppers as to why certain items (ahem, $1000 t-shirt) cost as much as they do. So, while there might be lower priced items thrown into the mix, prices overall will, sadly, not be lowered.
